The plant at Shenzen, China, about 50 miles north
of Hong Kong, is a cornerstone of the DuPont China operations, which began
in 1984 with a technology licensing agreement. In 2001, DuPont acquired the Hubei Longyun Protein Food Groups soy protein facility to expand its soy protein business in Asia. By the end of 2001, DuPont had 14 wholly owned subsidiaries and joint ventures in China.
