Overview

DuPont’s Kingston, Ontario, facility was the world’s second nylon plant. It was built in 1942 by CIL, the joint venture between DuPont and ICI. CIL was broken up in 1954, but DuPont retained the Kingston plant, which remains the heart of DuPont Canada’s business and maintains a workforce of 1,500 employees. The plant initially manufactured nylon yarn and staple, and Zytel® nylon resin production was added in the 1960s.
