Overview By the early 1930s, DuPonts Foreign Relations Department had identified the Argentinean market as particularly opportune. In 1933 the company acquired a Buenos Aires firm that exported chemicals and imported DuPont products. A year later DuPont and ICI entered the joint venture Industrias Quimicas Duperial S.A. Industrial y Comercial and began planning for a rayon plant at Berazategui, which opened in 1937. Operated by Ducilo S.A. Productora de Rayon, a Duperial subsidiary, the plant was built just 18 miles from Buenos Aires and served the Latin America textile market. |
